UK Retailer Advised to Keep Selling PS4s Despite US Shortages

PS4 Shortages

If you live in the US and haven’t yet ordered yourself a PlayStation 4, you may well be out of luck. They’re rare, and your best bet at the minute would be buying someone else’s pre-order on Ebay at four times the original cost. Not so in the UK, though. In fact, there doesn’t seem to be any issues at all.

UK retailer ShopTo have revealed, via their customer service department, that Sony have advised them to keep selling PS4s, and that no mention of a shortage of any kind has been mentioned.

The picture above was shared by Redditor JCC87 after they asked about the seemingly unlimited UK stock. The reply reads:

Currently we have not been made aware of any stock issues and have been advised to continue taking pre-orders by SONY. You will be notified immediately via email on any updates concerning stock for your pre-ordered console.

This may well be great news for UK PS4 fans, as no other retailer seems to be having any problems either. On the other hand, it might mean Sony end up taking too many pre-orders and even those who have had their name on one for months may end up wanting. This happened with both the PS2 and the PS3, not to mention the Wii.  Shortages often end up driving sales, but it means if you want one guarenteed for Christmas, you may want to put your name down sooner rather that later.

On the other hand, it may just be that SCEE are really on top of things. The less talk of shortages, the better.
