Super Mario Maker 2’s Addictive Story Mode

I just got Super Mario Maker 2 this week. Yeah, I’m running a little late. I’ve been making up for lost time though by playing this game a lot. The mode I’m playing the most? Super Mario Maker 2’s story mode!

Super Mario Maker 2 takes everything that was great about the first game and adds to it, plus adds in online multiplayer and…a story mode?!

I admit when I first heard there was going to be a story mode for Super Mario Maker 2 I was surprised. First of all, Mario isn’t known for its story but also Mario Maker is all about making levels. How good could a story mode possibly be?

As it turns out, the story mode is excellent. While it does not the most original story ever, Princess Peach castle is destroyed and you have to rebuild it, the levels that you play are addictive and getting that next piece of Peach’s castle built is satisfying.

Nintendo included over 100 levels in the story mode. The levels start out as pretty basic Mario/Mario Maker levels and then, before you know it, you find yourself collecting keys, falling deeper into a level, or just jumping into a clown car and firing enemies. These levels are so very inventive and will inspire you to make your own levels.

And yes, I have been building a level but for the most part, I just can’t stop playing the story mode in Mario Maker 2.

I will write again about Super Mario Maker 2. Most likely in More Thoughts From Me. Hopefully I’ll have a level that I created to share with you then.

What about you though? Are you addicted to Super Mario Maker 2’s story mode? Which level has been your favorite so far?
