Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus confirmed for PS3

The teasing from Sony over the past couple days (explained in our recent article) has finally come to an abrupt end.  Insomniac Games today confirmed that a new Ratchet & Clank adventure is due to hit shelves (and PSN) this holiday season.

Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus is a prequel to the Future-saga (Tools Of Destruction, Quest For Booty and A Crack In Time). Insomniac were very clear to emphasis that this is a Single player adventure only, citing their desire to tell an original and unique story with the witty humor fans have come to expect from the franchise. A single player R&C is exactly what most fans want. The more recent All For One wasn’t too well received partly due to the multiplayer so a lack of multiplayer in Into The Nexus is unlikely going to rustle too many feathers.

The announcement of Into The Nexus was accompanied by a trailer (see below) showcasing some of the more wacky weapons players will expect to see in the game such as a gun that turns enemies into Snowmen (?). Judging by the gameplay shown in the video, Into The Nexus will be very similar to past games, both visually and from a gameplay standpoint. Zero Gravity will play a massive role in the game allowing players to seamlessly jump from one surface to the next. It’s also highly likely Zero G will play a big part in the game’s puzzles although no further info was given to that regard.

When questioned why Into The Nexus is coming to PS3 and not PS4 as a launch title Community Lead for Insomniac Games James Stevenson had this to say:

We have a ton of Ratchet fans on PS3 who loved the Future saga, it seemed right to bring the Epilogue to them on that platform! 🙂

Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus releases exclusively for PlayStation 3 this holiday season in stores and downloadable from the PlayStation Network for $29.99.
