Sony shutting down servers for select titles

All good things must come to an end and the same is true for online gaming for certain titles. As games get older and hype dies down it’s inevitable the multiplayer will be abandoned too.  Sony released a list of games today that will have their servers shut down, effectively removing the online functionalities for said games. Servers cost money to run even years after a game’s release so most of the following titles are understandable however the inclusion of a Vita title is slightly puzzling.  Bare in mind this refers to the online funtionalities only. You will still be able to play the games offline.

PS3 Games

From June 18th you will no longer be able to play the following games online:

White Knight Chronicles (released March 5th 2010)
White Knight Chronicles 2 (released June 10th 2011)

From August 2nd you will no longer be able to play the following games online:

Buzz Quiz TV (released July 4th 2008)
Buzz!: Quiz-World (released October 30th 2009)
Buzz!: Brain of.. (released March 27th 2009)
Buzz!: The Ultimate Music Quiz (released October 22nd 2008)

Playstation Vita

From September 15th you will no longer be able to play the following games online:

MLB 12 The Show (released March 6th 2012)

If you still need to earn online trophies for any of the above titles (such as the Sofa vs Sofa wins in Buzz Quiz TV) then now is a good time to get them before they’re locked out forever.
