The Serious Sam Collection Announced

The Serious Sam Collection

Mastertronic have today announced The Serious Sam Collection for Xbox 360. The pack contains each of the previously released 360 Serious Sam titles: Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, The Second Encounter, Serious Sam 3: BFE (and the Jewel of the Nile DLC) and Double D XXL, a side-scroller.

The Serious Sam HD games are remakes of the original and incredibly popular Serious Sam titles, now available as Serious Sam Classic on PC. Serious Sam 3 is the latest game in the franchise, although Serious Sam 4 was recently mentioned as being funded by a recent Humble Bundle. Double D is most famous for its Gunstacker, the very definition of overkill. It’s basically a huge rack of weapons that you can fire simultaneously, for when you really, really want something dead.

The Serious Sam Collection will be available to purchase at retail on 12th July and is exclusive to the Xbox 360.  If you’ve been interested in buying into this franchise for a while, don’t have a PC on which to take advantage of the regular bundles these games turn up in or just don’t love the idea of buying digital, this is a great chance to play some pretty decent games at a reduced price.

The average metacritic score for each game in the collection comes in at about the 65 mark, although if you consider you’re getting four games, hours worth of entertainment, for around £6 a piece, it’s hard not to see that there’s value here.  The press release promises “over-the-top action,” and that’s exactly what you’ll get if you choose to buy The Serious Sam Collection, no more, no less. It’s a shooter with a purpose, and that purpose is to give you big guns and lots of enemies to blow away.
