New Halo Coming 2014

Halo 2

Master Chief is returning next year, in a new experience currently just called Halo. The CGI trailer – which we’ll add to this post when it’s made available by Microsoft – showed Master Chief walking through the desert, his visor cracked and his armour beaten down. The desert wind hits against his iconic green suit (covered only by a sack cloak of sorts), until he arrives in front of a giant mech. The crowd understandably went wild.

Although very little was said about the next console Halo game, and the first on Xbox One, there were a few buzzwords thrown around which are bound to be either the best thing ever or a terrible omen of things to come, depending on your stance. Halo will take advantage of cloud computing to add a new dimension to the game (although nothing was actually specified), and dedicated servers will bring players together in a far smoother set of matches that they’re perhaps currently accustomed to.

The big news was that Halo will run at 60FPS. To casual players this will mean very little, but to pro-gamers and anybody into E-Sports, this will change the way Halo is viewed by many. It’s also the first time a game will pose a real risk to Call of Duty in this area, giving Halo an advantage it’s never had before.

Expect more to be revealed over the coming months, and even up to E3 2014.
