Microsoft Announces Crackdown

crackdown

It was something that we’d all half expected, but since it came in the latter half of the show, and because it wasn’t given much fanfare, you’d have been forgiven for not instantly recognizing Crackdown. There’s not much information on what exactly “it” is yet – it seemed a little like a reboot/remake – but we can say this: it had a cracking trailer.

Most places are already labelling it as Crackdown 3, although it’s important to note that they didn’t specifically call it that. That’s usually done specifically, although at the same time, it doesn’t necessarily mean anything.

The trailer was everything you’d expect from a new entry in the Crackdown series. Larger than life explosions and action, occasional humour. The only thing it was missing was a big booming voice shouting “That’s an ACHIEVEMENT” – although said big booming voice was most definitely present.

This was one of the later showings, meaning that it won’t be out until at least 2015. That probably means fans will be waiting until at least this time next year for their Crackdown fix. It also means it’s unlikely that we’ll be seeing much else in the way of information for the time being. This was something to whet the old appetite, and I think it definitely worked.
