Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD may Pave Way to Further FF HD Re-Releases

A lot of people are excited for the chance to play both Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 again. The HD Collection adds better graphics and trophy support, as well as the ability to play both games from a single disk. Originally released in 2001, every single Final Fantasy game since has split the community more and more, so this is a fresh opportunity to see a fan favourite in a new, fresh way. If you’re excited, be sure to support the developers, as it may lead to similar opportunities in the future…

In an interview with RPG Site, producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed that Square may consider future HD re-releases in Final Fantasy X|X-2 does well. With that collection and Kingdom Hearts 1.5 on their way at the end of this year, it’d be nice to think that a few other Square-published PS2 classics may make their way to current-gen consoles. Most likely that will start with Final Fantasy XII.

From RPG Site:

“I mean, if we HAD to single out one of the vast number of Final Fantasy titles which we could make in HD, it would have to be Final Fantasy XII,” he said. “I was not involved in the project, though, so we can’t really comment on that.”

“What I can say though is that I hope the remastering of X and X-2 will trigger similar projects for more of the past games.”
