More Details Released on Hyrule Warriors

Hyrule Warriors is a title that we know surprisingly little about, especially considering it’ll be available to purchase within the next three months or so. With that said, Dynasty Warriors is a franchise that needs no introduction, and it’s only really the Hyrule-specific details that we need to know about. The gameplay itself is obvious, how it’s all set up and why characters as broad as Midna and Impa will be taking part in battle is less opaque.

If you’re not a big fan of Koei’s flagship franchise, Hyrule Warriors probably won’t be for you. The footage shown today was far smoother than the original teaser we saw a few months back, but it’s still fundamentally a Dynasty Warriors game. You come across a bunch of enemies, and you do your best to bash them. At the same time, other computer controller players will be bashing enemies elsewhere, and sometimes you’ll need to follow orders in the hopes of pulling off certain stratagems.

The Hyrule twist is definitely going to be interesting though. Joining Link, you’ll be able to play as Impa, Zelda, Midna and many others (although details on who exactly those characters will be never came). The developers hope that there’s enough of both franchises that fans on either side can be introduced to the other series, and we reckon that that’s more than possible with a game that looks this good.

While no details have been released, I reckon it’s possible that Koei will treat this as a “greatest hits” compilation, presenting the best bits of all the games in a new and exciting way. That’s how Link can be his own character, as well as Midna having a wolf. Multiplayer is also present, although whether it’s simple drop-in-drop-out co-op or if there’s something deeper, we don’t yet know.
