What Is The Sweetest Thing?: A Look At the Sweetest Thing For Wii U

I’m currently playing a game for Wii U called the Sweetest Thing. Its another game I got a review copy of and while I hope to have a review sometime this week, I wanted to give you a bit of a preview of this game first. What is the Sweetest Thing?

The Sweetest Thing is a strange game. At first, I thought it might be a kid’s board game, but then I quickly realized it was a resource management game. The reason I first believed it was more of a board game was because the levels are laid out as such. Then, I quickly saw that the player must direct a small worker character over to collect resources and then have him repair buildings with said resources. Basically, the Sweetest Thing is a simulation game. Although, the game also has a puzzle element.

In the Sweetest Thing, you must collect resources in the correct order or else you’ll have to start the level all over again. For instance, you may have to repair a sugar house in order to have enough sugar to do something else. But if you use the resources to repair the sugar house on something at the wrong time, you’ll be out of resources and have to start the level completely over. Its a bit frustrating and to be honest, the game’s difficulty doesn’t seem to match its graphics.

The graphics of the Sweetest Thing would lead you to believe the game is for little kids. All of the levels are bright and colorful (see the picture above) and even the game’s sound effects and voices seem child-like. Though, so far, the game seems pretty tricky and I’m not sure yet if kids could handle it. There doesn’t look to be a difficulty setting either. I’ll have to look around and see if I can find one. I’ve played a lot of puzzle games and resource management games and I have to admit I’m struggling with some of the levels so far. The Sweetest Thing should be a game that you can enjoy with the whole family right? Well, I’m not sure if its that type of game.

I’m going to need a bit more time to play The Sweetest Thing and try to get further into it. I hope to have my review sometime this week, although I may not. I’m not altogether sure how I feel about the Sweetest Thing yet. You’ll find out my final thoughts on the game when my review finally hits this website!
