Xbox One Sales Double in UK After Titanfall Release

Titanfall 7

Titanfall was always going to be a big next-gen game, despite the fact that it’s available on PC and Xbox 360 as well, but we definitely didn’t see just how big it’d turn out. Titanfall took to the top of the UK charts this week, and Xbox One sales almost doubled. With 96% extra consoles out there, I imagine there’s plenty of choice when it comes to finding games.

Another impressive feat is that 70% of the Xbox One units sold last week came bundled with Titanfall. This has an awful lot to do with both the price drop to £399, and a rather aggressive marketing campaign that’s pushed that price drop constantly in several stores, both specialist and general. If you’d ever heard of an Xbox One and don’t get your shopping delivered, you probably found out about the price drop. Titanfall may not have all that much to do with sales picking up, not directly, but it helps.

That’s not to say that it hasn’t done its part. EA’s shooter was made by much of the original Infinity Ward team, and many were desperate to see what the ex-Call of Duty devs would come up with. Reaction has been strong, especially among the Call of Duty crowd, and it seems sales reflect that as well.
