The Evil Within: The Assignment DLC Out Now

Bethesda and Tango Gameworks have released the expansion to The Evil Within titled The Assignment, which launches today on March 10. Starring Julie Kidman, players will embark on the first leg of a two-part, story driven experience that will take them deeper into the role of detective Sebastian Castellanos’s partner. The Assignment takes place during The Evil Within’s main story arc, and it looks to answer some of the unanswered questions surrounding Kidman’s whereabouts.

The Assignment brings new enemies as well as new horrors to the gameplay shown in the video while focusing on more stealth gameplay elements. But that doesn’t mean that you won’t get to split a few heads with an axe or two either. The Assignment will give fans more of what they want out of The Evil Within by piecing together a more cohesive story through a classic survival horror gameplay experience.

The Evil Within has revitalized the Survival Horror genre by focusing on what long time fans of the series have been longing for. Currently sitting at 1.39 million units sold, Bethesda hopes to reinvigorate the game by giving players another reason to venture back into Shinji Mikami’s horror masterpiece.

The second part of Julie Kidman’s tale will conclude with Consequence that will release sometime later this spring. The Assignment, Consequence, and as well as a 3rd announced dlc add on titled The Keeper, which will focus on one of the main enemies of the game, The Executioner, are all a part of The Evil Within’s Season Pass package which can be purchased for $19.99. Each piece of dlc can also be purchased separately for $9.99 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Steam. Bethesda also offered an extended look at The Assignment’s gameplay on Twitch.TV/Bethesda which you can check out below.
