EA Register Battlefield 5 Beta Site

battlefield4n4_900x507

Think Battlefield 4 is underwhelming? No need to worry – Battlefield 5 is on its way. That’s not surprising though, there was never any reason to doubt EA would be bringing back their flagship shooter franchise. The question is how soon? Well, whatever happens, they’re definitely keeping their options open, and have already registered the website for the Battlefield 5 beta site, Battlefield5beta.com.

What exactly does this mean? Well, in short, nothing. Anybody can by an empty domain name, and EA have a vested interest in keeping Battlefield-related content to themselves. Battlefield 5 will likely be the next game in the franchise, unless they decide to bring back Bad Company that is, and so it makes sense to have the beta website ready to go.

Does it mean they’ll be announcing it at this year’s E3? It’s unlikely. Battlefield has been coming out every two years for quite a while now, with Medal of Honor filling the gap between (meaning EA never go a year without a shooter). With Battlefield 4 not even a year old and with DLC still being made (and complaints about quality still running rampant), it seems unlikely that they’ll suddenly drop a Battlefield 5 right after. With that said, it’s never easy to guess what’s coming next based on previous trends, and it wouldn’t be surprising to learn EA are upping the ante as Call of Duty sales drop.
