Atari Teases Rollercoaster Tycoon 4

[sociallocker]There aren’t many games that let you build up amazing rollercoaster rides that end with the track suddenly dropping out and the death of thousands of your guests. That’s what makes Rollercoaster Tycoon such an important franchise. Because if you don’t terrorize innocent avatars, who on earth will? It’s been a while since the last outing was released – almost 10 years – so fans may be happy to learn that Atari are teasing a new entry in the series.

We say “may” be happy, because it appears that Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 might be… mobile exclusive.

On March 7th, Atari made a post to their Facebook page asking “Are you the next RollerCoaster Tycoon?” The post was out of nowhere, and was followed a few days later by another post promising that “A wild thrill ride awaits!”

The second post was followed by a hashtag: #RCT4M. Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 M-. What does the M stand for?

It could be a tagline or subtitle, for those looking for the silver lining. There’s no reason to think that the M means mobile. There’s also no real reason to think it doesn’t mean mobile. It’s a popular area of development, there’s a lot of money there and it’ll definitely make money on that platform. It also probably wouldn’t be the best game it could be on mobile devices, but Atari wouldn’t be the first publisher to look to iOS and Android for a chance to revive an old franchise.[/sociallocker]
