Loot Crate – Early 2017

It’s been a while since we unboxed and reviewed a Loot Crate subscription box, and that isn’t because we are lazy! We have been swamped lately with work, and since the delivery date of these boxes is so random, it is hard to schedule their articles. Now that the Switch is in our hands and things are settling down again, we thought we would highlight a few of our favorite items from the past few months, and we kick it off with…

Harry Potter Goodness

Who doesn’t love a little Harry Potter in their lives? A few months ago, we received the Loot Wear – which was theme Magical I believe – and inside where to great Harry Potter Items: a great pair of Harry Potter socks and a pair of pajama pants adorned with all the house crests from Hogwarts. The quality of both products was top notch, and the designs are fantastic. The pajama pants took a bit of getting use to as their initial appearance is a bet, “meh”, but it grows on you quickly!

Jumpman – Mario?

The clothing options in the Loot Crate lineup of boxes lately has been great, and January’s Loot Crate box was no exception. Before there was Mario, Nintendo had Jumpman, who made his appearance in the original Donkey Kong game. If you are trying to remember which one that was, think barrels rolling down platforms. Now you know, that was Jumpman way back when, not Mario.

The t-Shirt is outstanding, and one that I wear everywhere. It’s also a great conversation starter: “Hey, cool Mario shirt!” “Well actually, it’s not Mario, but…” Even if you want to pretend it is Mario, go right ahead! Outside of the date stamped below, only the most hard core of Nintendo / Mario fans would know the difference. So go ahead and call it Mario if you want: no one will mind.

blankEveryone Loves Portal

The January 2017 Loot Gaming box was a pretty big miss for me. Although the value of the items is technically there, the majority of what game packed in was not something I would have liked, normally. There was one big exception: the Portal tie.

My day job requires me to dress up often, so I really appreciate all the wearable items Loot Crate includes in their boxes. Since getting the Portal tie in early February, it has made multiple appearances in the office, and more than a few coworkers have taken notice. In fact, it opened my eyes to how many gamers I had in my work place, which again makes this type of item a great conversation starter.
