Resident Evil 2 1-Shot Demo Thoughts

Resident Evil 2 is coming back to life later this month. Capcom released a demo for the game on the Playstation network today. I tried it out. And somehow I survived to tell you all about it.

Wow. Just wow. I had played the original Resident Evil 2. I thought I was prepared for the Resident 2 1-Shot demo. I was not.

First of all, lets talk about the game’s graphics. I was blown away by how amazing Resident Evil 2 looked. I doubt I could ever play the original game again. The new one looks stunning.

And then there’s the gameplay. I love the Resident Evil 4 behind the shoulder’s camera and that returns with this remake. The gameplay is not as slow as the original and even the zombies are quicker in this game. I was shocked by how fast they come at you. I died only a little bit into the demo. Thankfully, you could continue and I did. I did not die again after that and learned to run whenever possible. I liked that you could board up windows too. I can’t remember if that was in the original game or not. Still. I was learning on the go. This Resident Evil isn’t exactly like the game I played years ago.

I was also not ready for the level of gore in the demo. Ya, I know the original was gory but the more realistic graphics made this RE2 pretty gross. Have you seen The Walking Dead? Well, I suppose if you can handle how gross that show can get, you can handle this. Still…yuck…

Another thing I wasn’t ready for: the end of the demo. I had just shot a zombie with a shotgun and was ready to look around the rest of the room…and the demo ended. I wish the demo had been longer!

Also its too bad you can’t play the demo again…

I’m really impressed by Resident Evil 2 on the Playstation 4. If you’re a fan of the franchise, you should definitely check out the demo. You’ll want the full game asap.

Have you played the Resident Evil 2 demo? What did you think of it?
