Phones with Flappy Bird Installed Hit eBay at Extravagant Prices

flappybird

Fancy a new phone but can’t bring yourself to purchase something that no longer has access to Flappy Bird? If that describes you – and if you have $100,000 or so to spare – you can now hit eBay, where a variety of friendly people are trying to offload their iPhone and Android devices at huge prices.

You might say it’s a joke gone too far, actually. There are some 9500+ entries on eBay for the phrase Flappy Bird, almost all of them selling a phone with the game installed. The prices top out at over $100,000, although frugal buyers will be able to get something less impressive for around the $3,000 mark. And why not? You’re no longer able to actually download Flappy Bird, and you’ll never have the opportunity to do so again. So breaking the bank doesn’t really matter in this case, right?

The more sensible amongst us will be happy to learn that, in as many pages as I browsed through, there were absolutely no bids. That makes it a little bit sadder though, really. Hundreds of watchers on many of the listers, but not a single bid. It’s almost as if each “watch” is equivalent to “I get this joke.” Not a laugh or even a smile. Just “I get that reference.” It’s almost like a new episode of Family Guy.

Flappy Bird was removed from digital stores earlier this week after its creator disliked the pressure of fame and money, although some of claiming that taking down the game actually fuelled more people to get it, increasing revenue in the short term.
