Buying Games on Launch Day: Do you do it?

When I was younger and lacked any real responsibilities, I was fairly free with my money. When the Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker came out on GameCube, I bought it on day one. When Halo and Halo 2 launched, I bought both those games on launch day. Things have changed, at least for myself, but I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting older, or if in general, people are not buying games on launch day like they use to.

Ex-Dice Employee: “Don’t Buy Battlefield Hardline at Launch!”

It's not uncommon for ex-employees to voice opinions about their previous employer and the projects they are working on. Via an As Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit this week, we were able to hear what ex-Dice designer Tim Kjell had to say about the Battlefield franchise. His opinion: don't buy Battlefield Hardline at launch.

Godzilla PS3 TGS Gameplay Released

Other than a fairly decent web-based shooter (with no shooting), Godzilla hasn't been in a video game for an awfully long time. That is about to change, with a PS3 title coming out in Japan later this year, and likely worldwide. This week the publisher, Bandai Namco, released some gameplay footage to show exactly what we can expect from the title.

Sony Wants To Show the Value of Paying for Online

Microsoft was way ahead of the game when it came to charging people to play games online. Many argued that it wasn't a smart move, saying it would push players away from the Xbox towards other, free online platforms such as the Wii and PS3. However, Microsoft always believed in the online product they were giving fans, and in general, many will argue that Microsoft held the online interaction advantage over a usable, albeit not always user friendly, model used by Sony. For those still ...

SteamWorld Heist Blasting Onto Devices in Spring 2015

A few weeks back, I reviewed SteamWorld Dig on the Wii U. The game was so fantastic, I've now owned it on multiple different platforms including my Wii U for at home and 3DS for on the road. The game is that good. If you haven't picked it up, stop reading this useless announcement, grab the game and play it, and come back to read this at your convenience. After all, the release date for their next title isn't until Spring 2015.

Microsoft Buys Mojang and Minecraft for Estimated 2.5 Billions

It is official. Mojang posted on their own website that, "Yes, the deal is real. Mojang is being bought by Microsoft." This is probably great news for Microsoft as purchasing a giant such as Minecraft is bound to make them a lot more than they spent. One thing Microsoft isn't getting, however, is the brilliant mind of Minecraft creator, Notch.

PlayStation fans might “Make a Fuss” about Announcement on Monday

An announcement coming Monday may just cause PlayStation fans to "make a fuss," a Famitsu editor said yesterday. Although he didn't offer much else to go on, the implication that it's going to be exclusive to one or more of the PlayStation devices is sure to capture the attention of those interested in Japanese titles.

Escape Dead Island Release Date Announced

Deep Silver have today announced the release date for their upcoming "third-person single-player survival mystery spin-off" Escape Dead Island. Although announced only quite recently, fans can expect to get their hands on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC title sooner than expected.

Sony DDOS Attacks affect Single Player, Simple Fix Found

If you planned on playing a single player game this weekend, something like Metro Redux, you've probably found that you're not able to thanks to the DDOS attacks on Sony. Loading will lead you to a black screen. Thankfully, a simple fix has been found that'll mean you won't have to worry about that bothersome block any longer.

Sony Insider goes silent, was getting too much Attention

A verified Sony insider who debunked the fake UI images released this weekend has had to delete his Reddit account after getting too much attention. The user was open about the problems Sony face, as well as the reason certain features had to be delayed, and the off-the-record style of talking about issues was a welcome breath of fresh air compared to the PR speak of the actual community managers. IWorkForSony has been behind a variety of news stories in…
