I’ve played a few survival rpgs and they are pretty fun. Yes, you will die a lot in survival rpgs, but you also get to do things in them that you don’t find yourself doing in other types of rpgs. For instance, crafting new and surprising items to fight off or capture something. Smoke and Sacrifice for the Nintendo Switch is a survival rpg that puts you into some interesting situations. The game also has a story too. So is Smoke and Sacrifice a game you’ll want to check out?

The main story of Smoke and Sacrifice has to do with a mother who gives up her child and then has a chance to find that child again. The story is unexpected and very intriguing. You’ll find yourself wanting to know what’ll happen next. That said, Smoke and Sacrifice tends to focus on its gameplay even more than its storyline.

In Smoke and Sacrifice, the player will have to craft items in order to survive a very harsh wilderness. There are a lot of enemies  to be found and defeated. You’ll need a weapon as soon as you can get one. Not only that, though, you’ll need a lantern to drive away a darkness that can kill you if you don’t have any light. Finding out how to craft the items you need is as easy as finding the right recipe.

Recipes are placed throughout the wilderness. You can have to find them and once you find them, you have to find the ingredignants to make the item you need. This is sometimes really hard. Perhaps worse than that though is that items in this game break and they break fast. So you’ll find yourself constantly either repairing an item or replacing it.

Thankfully, there is a quick menu that can be accessed via the D-pad buttons. You have a map, your crafting area, items, and quest log on you at all times. You will need to look at all of this a lot. The game pauses when you look at any of the submenus, so even if you are near an enemy you can go look at your map, tools, items, or quests and not have to worry about being attacked. All of this and the rest of the controls work very well too.

This game has analog/button controls and touch screen controls. I preferred playing the game via the analog/button controls, though the touch screen controls work well too.

Smoke and Sacrifice can be a really hard game. It is, in fact, one of the toughest survival rpgs I’ve been played, if not the toughest! Don’t get me wrong, I really like this game. There is a lot to the gameplay and it can be pretty fun. It is also a good looking game.

Smoke and Sacrifice is a great looking game. The environments in this game are extremely well designed and so are all of the characters, from the enemies to your various allies.

However, Smoke and Sacrifice does suffer from some mild framerate hiccups here and there. It doesn’t hurt the gameplay but you will notice it.

As for the music, its bad but this is another game where sound effects are better than the music.

Smoke and Sacrifice is a great game overall. The difficulty could be easier, but if you like surival rpgs, then you’ll want to check this game out.

Smoke and Sacrifice is a really great survival rpg. While its difficulity can be pretty hard and it has occasional framrate issues, everything else from its graphics to its gameplay work well. And the game has a very interesting story, which is something you don’t see often in survival rpgs. If you are looking for a challenge and like survival rpgs, you should download this game right now!

Thanks to Plan of Attack for providing a review code of this game. Smoke and Sacrifice is out right now for the Nintendo Switch eshop!
