Konami Will Release Arcade, Castlevania, and Contra Anniversary Collections This Year

I am a huge Castlevania fan. I love the NES ones, the SNES games, Symphony of the Night, and all the GBA and DS ones. And so when Konami announced last night that there would be an Anniversary Collection of Castlevania games released this year, well, I went nuts. There will also be an arcade collection and a Contra collection! Konami has announced that they will be releasing Arcade games, Castlevania, and Contra collections this year. They will be available…

Nindies Showcase Video (3/20)

Nintendo had an Indie (Nindie) showcase video today! You can check it out below and then please come back here for my thoughts on the showcase. I thought that the Nindies Showcase video was pretty good! Probably the best one in awhile (though its lack of Steamworld Quest was distrubing. Yes, I know it was in the last one but still). The showcase got off to a great start with the reveal that Cuphead is coming to the Nintendo Switch!…

The Division 2 feature

The Division 2 – In-Progress

In an age of early access games and update-driven releases, it is a rarity indeed to find a game that, upon release, truly feels like a finished product. Too often are developers pressured into pushing their games out too quickly, leading to outrage from the community and an overall poor experience. The lesson to be learned here is that quality cannot be rushed, and that developers need to remind gamers of this fact and not allow themselves to make compromises for an earlier release date. Ubisoft, for its part, has certainly known for its resistance to this ...

More Thoughts From Me #162: The Case of the Missing Sony E3 Conference

Sony announced this year that they will not be at E3. This means no E3 conference at all! Why is Sony doing this? Don’t they have anything to show for the Playstation 4 this year?! Some thoughts and theories below! Every year at E3: Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo show off games. Sure, you have Ubisoft and EA and some other companies, but the big three are always the most anticipated of E3. Not this year. This year Sony won’t be…

Anthem Review

Striving to dominate the MMO console-shooter world, EA's newest title, Anthem, has landed. Anthem puts you in the driver's seat of 'Iron Man' style mech suits that you fly around in to dispatch hordes of enemies. However, as tends to happen when a game receives an abundance of pre-release hype (did you too receive dozens of ads on Twitch and YouTube for this game? I sure did!), the community has quickly revolted on Anthem and its creators. This begs the question, does Anthem really deserve all the hate? Or the hype it garnered before that? Let's take a look!

Everspace Review

Finally, the wildly popular space-shooter roguelike Everspace has made its way to the Nintendo Switch! Originally released in May 2017, Everspace is a beautifully minimalistic roguelike adventure game. Produced and developed by veteran indie developer ROCKFISH Games, Everspace utilizes the Unreal Engine 4 and has snagged many awards since its initial release. It was released for the Nintendo Switch late last year, and we have eagerly waiting to get our hands on it ever since. I can't wait to see how this port fairs on the Switch, so let's get right to it!

Is Daemon X Machina’s Prototype Missions Demo Worth A Look?

We got a few free things after the Nintendo Direct yesterday. There was a free-to-play game and a free demo. And then there was the biggest and most unexpected free thing: a demo of Daemon X Machina! The game is still being worked on and it looks like the developer wants feedback, hence the free look at the game. What do I think of Daemon X Machina Prototype Missions? Check out my impressions below. When I first saw Daemon X…

Far Cry New Dawn Review

I usually do my best to avoid any story spoilers, but when providing context for Far Cry New Dawn, that seems a near impossible task. So here we go, an official Spoiler Alert: At the end of Far Cry 5, a nuclear weapon is detonated over Hope County. This sets in motion a chain of events that lead to New Dawn, set 17 years into the post-apocalyptic life of the same region. A new threat has emerged and taken control of the region, and once again it is up to us to stop them.

A Tales of Two Games: Evoland Legendary Edition Review

I did a preview of Evoland Legendary Edition last week. This week, I want to give you my final opinion on these games. Evoland Legendary Edition, as noted in the preview, is two games: Evoland 1 and 2, collected into one package. My review will look at both games individually and then come to a conclusion about the whole package. Is Evoland Legendary Edition worth downloading from the Nintendo Switch eshop? Evoland 1 While Evoland 1’s story is pretty simple…
