Minecraft Coming to PS3 This Week

It’s been quite a long time coming, but Minecraft is finally coming to PlayStation 3 over the next few days. It had previously been available on just about everything else, including mobile phones and Xbox 360. Those of you investing in a PS3 this Christmas, especially if it’s for a young child, have picked just the right time to buy.

Although the release date is right around the corner, they’ve yet to reveal just how much it’ll cost to pick it up. This isn’t an oversight, with Owen Hill of Mojang confirming that info on pricing will come at a later date.

There were plenty of things they could talk about though, including the fact that Minecraft is still coming to PlayStation 4 and Vita. They’re being developed alongside one another and there should be more information on when they’ll be available in the new year. They’ll both be out in 2014.

Other than that, it should play exactly like other console versions of Minecraft, including 4-player local co-op and 8-player online. There will be downloadable skins and texture packs available from the PlayStation Store, and they even hinted at the possibility of Sony exclusive packs. There will also be a trial, for those not sure they’ll be able to get into it.

Minecraft: PS3 Edition will be available later this week.
