Top Reasons to Play Yoshi Woolly World

YoshisWoolyWorld

I had the opportunity to play Yoshi Woolly World a number of times during Nintendo of Canada events in Toronto. The first time I played the game – well over a year ago at an E3 2014 event – I was so excited for this title. The game was unique in design, and was packed with so much charm. While I have yet to play the final product, here are our top reasons to give Yoshi’s Woolly World a try this holiday season.

1. Unique Game Mechanics – when Nintendo opted to build the next Yoshi title around yarn, I have to say I was pretty skeptical. It wasn’t the first time Nintendo had tried this – think Kirby’s Epic Yarn. When Kirby came out, I liked it as much as the next person, but it wasn’t earth shattering. Yoshi’s newest adventure, however, holds way more charm and interesting puzzle solving than Kirby ever did, a big positive in our books.

2. Puzzle Solving – because the game is made of yarn, it has opened up many puzzle solving opportunities. Gaps that appear to far to cross are easily managed – all Yoshi must do is unravel his yarn a bit to create a propeller to get himself across. Many areas of the world are also hidden behind blankets of yarn. Find that one loose strand and Yoshi can quickly uncover hidden areas.

3. It appears to vastly improve on Yoshi’s New Island – the 3DS Yoshi title was an epic disappointment for us at Games Reviews, even for myself who is a self proclaimed Yoshi fanboy. It appears as if Woolly World rights all the wrongs of that title, providing one of the best – and most challenging – Yoshi titles yet.

Have you picked up Yoshi’s Woolly World yet? What do you think. In the near future we will have a review and an Opinionated Logan article.
