The Battle Cats POP! Preview

I’ve reviewed a lot of games since becoming a video game reviewer. I have reviewed some pretty strange games for Wii U and 3DS. The Battle Cats Pop! for the 3DS may be the strangest game I’ve ever played though!

I recently received another game for review. This time, I’m reviewing a “unique” tower defense game for the 3DS. The game is called The Battle Cats Pop! And when I call this game unique, what I actually mean is strange. Battle Cats Pop is a tower defense game…with cats…and other animals. Its a game that I may never forget. The following is not a review of the game. A review will hopefully come next week. I just wanted to give a preview of The Battle Cats Pop!

So, other than staring cats and other animals, why is this game so strange? Well, the game doesn’t take itself very seriously and has a pretty bizarre sense of humor. From the graphics to the gameplay, Battle Cats Pop! is unlike any other game you’ll see on the 3DS. Whether or not its strange sense of humor, gameplay, and graphics is a good thing will be left up to the review. Let me tell you a bit more about this game…

Most of the Battle cats characters are in black & white, with some color enemy once and awhile. The player sends out whatever cats you have at your disposal and fights against many different types of enemies, including “Those Guys”. You will unlock more cats as you go and can upgrade the cats and other tools you have. The player doesn’t control the cats. Much like the tower defense game Swords & Soldiers, you pick which of your “people” you want to send out and then they walk to the left to fight the enemy & destroy their base. The game gets more and more bizarre as you play it.

There’s a Cat God that you can ask for help in this game. The Cat God is…um…a naked guy (his leg covers the part censors don’t want you see) with a cat head. Its even freakier than my description would let on. The designs for many of the cats are very strange too. The enemy animals are a little strange, but nothing compared to your cats and especially the Cat God. The Battle Cats Pop! is a game that’ll definitly appeal to…someone…but I’m not sure who yet!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game like The Battle Cats Pop! and I’ve reviewed some pretty freaky games before. I will be playing the Battle Cats Pop! more this weekend and will try to have a review up sometime next week. Is the game good or bad? Is it too bizarre or just bizarre enough? You’ll hopefully find out soon!

Stay tuned for my review of The Battle Cats Pop! Till then, keep fighting the good fight. There are battle cats just waiting for you. Maybe.
