Fe Steals Show at EA Conference

Do you remember that feeling you got when you first saw and played Ori and the Blind Forest? That’s the feeling I got when first watching the Fe trailer that EA showed off during their press conference on Sunday. The team at Zoink Games -of Zombie Vikings fame – are up to their old tricks again with another superb title, and this one is backed by Electronic Arts!

This might have been the best thing I saw during the whole conference, and that is saying a lot since EA also showed off new Battlefield coverage! However, seeing as we knew Battlefield was coming, Fe remains the biggest surprise of the presser, and perhaps might hold up as the biggest surprise at E3 this year!

EA announced a number of changes to popular franchises that will drastically increase the appeal. That includes 64 player online multiplayer coming to Battlefield, and a single player campaign for the upcoming Titanfall release. The other big Titanfall news?  It will be coming to Playstation 4 meaning it is no longer an exclusive title to Xbox One and PC.

Some announcements and trailers were definitly less impressive, and seemed to create more frustrations than hype. Mass Effect: Andromeda received a short trailer which gave us very little to chew on. More disappointing than that, however, was the information we received from the EA Star Wars team. Yes, we are getting a Star Wars Battlefront sequel, but no, they are not ready to show us anything yet.

Outside of FE, I found the EA press conference uninteresting. We knew about Battlefield, we knew about Titanfall 2, we knew about Mass Effect: Andromeda, and we knew about a sequel to Battlefront. So little was shown off, which probably raised the appeal of Fe so much. Lets do better next year EA; please, lets do better.
