Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers Demo Impressions

I wasn’t a big fan of Dillon’s Rolling Western for the 3DS. I never did play its sequel. And so when Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers was announced for the 3DS, I wasn’t excited. Why was Nintendo bringing Dillon back again? Even so, when the demo for the game came out today I thought I’d give it a look. What did I think of the game? Check out my impressions of the demo for Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers below!

Dillon’s Rolling Western and its sequel were both tower defense games for the 3DS. I was not expecting Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers to be any different…

When I booted the demo for the new Dillon up, the first thing that happened was that I was asked to pick a Mii to play as. I picked my own Mii of course. My Daniel Mii was soon covered by a barrel and I had to press the A button to get out of it. Once out of the barrel, I found that my Mii was transformed into…a duck! Well, a Mii/duck hybrid. He still kind of looked like my Mii but he was shorter and more duck like. I didn’t really like this look for him and decided to say No I wasn’t ready.

I was given the chance to try again and each time I tried, my Mii was turned into a different animal. I finally settled on my Mii being a cat!

After that, I got into a cutscene and then into the game.

The demo fo Dillon’s Dead-Heart Breakers is pretty short. Its only giving you a look a part of the game, though I have to say I was really impressed.

In the demo, you play as Dillon (not your Mii) and you have to save the truck that your Mii is in. The demo plays much like a racing game, expect you have to charge at the enemy and then grind against them to defeat them. It reminded me a bit of a Burnout game! I thought the gameplay was pretty fun. The big boss fight at the end was a blast.

And the graphics for this game blew me away! The cutscenes and actual gameplay look fantastic. If you have 3D on your system, use it! This game looks great in 3D.

At the end of the demo, a short video plays. It shows you more of the game. The actual game does have tower defense sections like previous Dillon games, but it also has more “racing” segments and what looks like town exploration too. Oh and there were obvious mini-games shown in the trailer also.

Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers demo is fun. Its a short demo, but I recommend downloading it anyway. It’ll also give you a look at the full game. I think this will be a game to get when it comes out.

Have you played the demo? If so, what do you think of it? Are you looking forward to the full game?

The demo for Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers is currently available on the 3DS eshop!
