Nintendo Switch the Fastest Selling Console in US History

Despite an odd release date for a home console – March typically isn’t when new consoles launch – Nintendo looks to have made the correct decision as it was announced this week that the Nintendo Switch is the fastest selling console in US video game history, within a 10 month span. Released March 3rd 2017 worldwide, Nintendo has had a very successful year after a lackluster 2016, and for many gamers, have been deemed the ‘winners’ of 2017.

The success of the Nintendo Switch was not simply in the gamble the company made producing a hybrid TV and hand held system. Success should also be attributed to the strong lineup of games Nintendo launched in this first year, both from their own development teams and 3rd party developers. This includes: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem Warriors, Splatoon 2, ARMS, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Pokken Tournament DX, and so much more.

Nintendo is hitting all the right notes right now, and although they have a somewhat quiet early 2018 – with very little in terms of concrete release dates – I feel confident that this current management team won’t allow too many months to fly by without another solid, Nintendo Switch release.
