More Thoughts From Me #153: Fantastic LittleBigPlanet 3 Creations

Its been awhile since I’ve explored the LittleBigPlanet community and its amazing amount of content. So when I got a PS4 recently, one of the games I was interested in getting was LittleBigPlanet 3. I got the game recently and I’ve been checking out peoples creations. What cool things have a seen so far?

LittleBigPlanet 3 was not created by Media Molecule, the developer of the first two games. Instead, Sumo Digital created LBP3. And mostly I couldn’t tell that it was a different developer. The story levels seem a lot like the ones found in LBP1 and 2. Stephen Fry returns as the narrator and the franchise’s trademark humor returns.

And creation mode is very similar to the first two games! The only big difference I can see is that the load times on this game seem a lot longer, but it has been awhile since I’ve played the other two games, so maybe LBP always had load times that suck…

In any case, I really like the story levels so far. Its neat to have new playable characters and new weapons to find. LBP’s single player mode is a blast despite the load times.

And the creation mode! The levels that I’ve been seeing for this game are really impressive.

So far I’ve seen everything from a 2D pixel art action-rpg, vertical space shooter, a 2D beat ’em up, a 3D first person shooter, a Sackboy stealth game, and more!

One of the most impressive things I’ve seen are levels that don’t use Sackboy (or any of his new friends) as the main character. That 2D pixel art game I mentioned? That had its very own character to play as. And the space shooter didn’t show Sackboy at all.

I even played a 2D fighter with a tall character that was going around beating some bad guys up.

The level creator on LittleBigPlanet 3 is amazing. It really does give me high hopes for Dreams, which will be taking level creation to the next level.

Have you played LittleBigPlanet 3? Do you have a favorite level? If so, please share the level in the comments and I’ll check it out!

Next week: Revisiting Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer. I had gotten rid of Happy Home Designer and regretted it. Recently, I got a download copy of the game and started playing it again. Why do I like this title? And what features in Happy Home Designer do I hope are in Animal Crossing Switch?

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. I can’t wait to play Dreams!
